
African S.M.I.L.E. is a Lutheran humanitarian relief organization that provides a helping hand to the economically and socially disadvantaged region of Singida in the East African country of Tanzania. Because of an ongoing drought, the health issues wrought by AIDS, malaria, chronic hunger, and the lack of educational and employment opportunities, the economy in the Singida region is stagnant. African S.M.I.L.E. partners with grassroots efforts in the Singida region to help alleviate these plagues.

Since 2002, through partnerships with other organizations and individuals in the region, African S.M.I.L.E. has been involved with many projects, including: building a secondary school, a dental clinic, a church, and living quarters for the hospital’s physicians.
