Results of 2014 Trip

2014 saw AfricanSMILE begin its multi-year effort to address the lack of adequate housing for those afflicted with Leprosy.  See a video update of our efforts here.

  • 7 houses were built to accommodate 10 Lepers
  • 5 cook houses built
  • 4 Bathroom facilities were built with 3 toilets in each
  • All building was done on Chardeleco land.
  • Home were furnished with 4 chairs, bed, 4 cooking pots, dish set (2 ea.), Kerosene lamps, broom, curtains

Other Accomplishments from this year’s trip:

  • Repaired the roof on the new Nursing School
  • Met with the medical director at Haydom Hospital to secure an agreement that will bring much needed eye surgery care to Nkungi Villiage and provide free eye care for those afflicted with Leprosy
